Musée de Montmartre

The Montmartre museum is located in the 18th arrondissement, a stone's throw from the Sacré Coeur. It was inaugurated in 1960 on rue Cortot, in a group of buildings that has hosted many artists in the past, including Suzanne Valadon, Maurice Utrillo or Auguste Renoir.

This museum is not one of the most luxurious or well-known museums in Paris. Many Parisians have never been there. Nevertheless, I think it is a museum full of charm because its visitor really plunges into the history and universe of Montmartre, an emblematic district of Paris.

The visitor will be able to discover the permanent collection of the museum, which gathers works referring to the crazy transformation of Montmartre at the end of the XIXth century and the beginning of the XXth century. They can then visit the studio apartment of the artist Suzanne Valadon, who lived there in the early 20th century. This accurately reconstructed apartment is like a journey back in time in the artistic Montmartre. Finally, the visitor can enjoy the Renoir gardens, a breath of nature in the center of the city, and drink a coffee at the romantic Renoir café.
