Palais Garnier

The Palais Garnier is an opera house inaugurated in 1875 and located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.

Its construction was carried out by the architect Charles Garnier as part of the transformation of Paris led by the prefect Haussmann. Its inauguration in 1875 also follows the destruction of the famous Le Peletier opera in a fire in 1873.

The opera house hosts an academy of music, choreography and lyrical poetry that trains young professionals in the field of artistic creation and passes on to them the savoir-faire of the opera.

The Palais Garnier's program is wide-ranging, including operas, ballets, concerts and recitals. These various shows transport the spectator into the magic of the world of music and dance. It is also possible to visit the building on your own or with a guide, without attending a show.
